Learning Outcome 1

Learning Outcome 1

I feel that compared to day one of class I have changed my writing style completely along with my approach to revision. In high school, I would write an entire essay, read it twice, and call it a day. In college, I can’t do that anymore or I would probably get terrible grades. One major change I have made in global revision is by writing in drafts. I have multiple drafts of my writing most of the time I have 3 to 4 drafts before I even start my final paper. I revise each one of my drafts before moving on to the next in order to have the best outcome. In local revision, the main change I have made is my citing format. Before I would write one quote in a paragraph and explain it. Now I am incorporating multiple quotes into one paragraph and putting them into conversation with each other. My process when writing a paper now being in college is much different than what it used to be. I feel like this shows that I am growing as a writer and it’s all because of things I have learned in class. Such as the Barclays formula has allowed me to be able to write a paragraph in the form of a conversation and have it flow and sound more academically correct. Also “They Say, I Say” has helped me with quote layout and incorporating my own opinions into my writing with the templates the book provides. Revision is now a large part of my writing and has improved my writing significantly.
